Bret Jardine is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of First Advantage, with responsibility for all legal affairs from corporate governance to litigation management and regulatory compliance. In practice for over 25 years, Bret brought his experience as a litigator, including class actions and regulatory inquiries, as well as corporate transactional work and corporate governance to First Advantage beginning in 2004.
With background screening as First Advantage’s core business, Bret has developed a special emphasis and expertise on the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and state laws affecting background screening. In addition to providing overall guidance to the company on compliance with the FCRA in the delivery of its services, he regularly provides insight to First Advantage clients into legal issues related to their use of background screening reports, and frequently speaks in webinars, client advisory board meetings and with external counsel in panels at seminars or speaking engagements regarding best practices and issues that impact employers and the background screening industry. And as First Advantage is a global provider of background screening services, Bret has expertise and oversees a team of regulatory compliance officers regarding data privacy laws and regulations to assist in providing guidance to First Advantage and its global customers.
